Les Misérables co-director John Caird is bringing his musical Jane Eyre to London this summer for its UK premiere.
Jane Eyre – A Musical will play at Southwark Playhouse Elephant in London from 28 August to 24 October 2026.
The show is co-created by John Caird (Les Misérables, Spirited Away, Children of Eden), who write the book and additional lyrics, and Paul Gordon (Daddy Long Legs) who wrote the music and lyrics, based on Charlotte Brontë’s classic novel.

Jane Eyre will be directed by John Caird and actress and director Megan McGinnis (Beauty and the Beast, Beetlejuice).

What is Jane Eyre about? Jane Eyre’s journey, from cruelly-used orphan to independent womanhood, centres on the dark and beautiful Thornfield Hall and its owner, the mysterious and conflicted Edward Rochester. Here Jane is caught up in a web of secrets and lies, physical and moral danger, self-doubt, betrayal and heart-breaking loss. How she restores herself, through inner strength, self-knowledge and forgiveness, gives this passionate story the most moving and uplifting resolution.
It has taken 30 years for the show to come to London, after premiering in Toronto in 1996 and then getting a Tony-nominated Broadway run in 2000.
The show is produced by Adam Blanshay, and David Mirvish and Hannah Mirvish.
