Felicity Kendal stars in a glittering revival of Noel Coward’s classic comedy Hay Fever at the Duke of York’s Theatre.

Noël Coward’s hilarious comedy of bad manners Hay Fever makes a welcome return to the West End in this glittering revival starring Felicity Kendal and Simon Shepherd.

Directed by acclaimed UK director Lindsay Posner (Speed-the-Plow, Noises Off) this Theatre Royal Bath production comes to the West End’s Duke of York’s Theatre for a strictly limited season.

Felicity Kendal stars as retired actress Judith Bliss in Coward’s quintessential English comedy of manners.

CAST

Felicity Kendal is one of the UK’s most popular actresses. She shot to fame in The Good Life on television and has won numerous awards for her stage work. Her recent visits to Bath have included Ayckbourn’s Relatively Speaking, Beckett’s Happy Days and Coward’s Fallen Angels and The Vortex.

Simon Shepherd’s many credits include the West End productions of The Duck House, Posh, The Secret Rapture and Art; ITV’s Peak Practice and Born in the Gardens in the 2008 Peter Hall Company Season in Bath.

STORY

The Bliss family – recently-retired Judith (Felicity Kendal), the once glittering star of the London stage; David (Simon Shepherd), an egocentric novelist; and Sorel and Simon, their two Bohemian adult children – are incapable of sharing the spotlight. Unconventional, risqué, and often downright rude, they are everything a respectable English family should not be. When each member of the family invites a guest to their rural retreat, the unassuming visitors are thrown into a living melodrama. Misjudged meetings, secret seductions and scandalous revelations proliferate during one outrageous weekend in Berkshire.
