Mormon success story
The Book of Mormon is one of the West End’s most successful shows, having won four Olivier Awards. The original Broadway production, which scored nine Tony Awards, is also still going strong.
Earlier this month, The Book of Mormon overtook We Will Rock You to become London’s 12th longest-running musical in West End history, and the 16th longest-running production overall (See the full line-up of the longest-running West End shows). Which means they are doing something right!
The show’s secret weapon is obviously the hilarious script, sharp satire, catchy songs by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, plus music co-written with Robert Lopez (Frozen, Avenue Q). And the world-class creative team, including co-directors Trey Parker and Casey Nicholaw (Disney’s Hercules), who also choreographs.
