New stage thriller Paranormal Activity – based on the hit film franchise – has had a sudden change of cast.
Ronan Raftery (Mary Page Marlowe) was due to star in the show as James. However, Patrick Heusinger is now making his West End stage debut in the role, which he originated at Leeds Playhouse.
Paranormal Activity is now playing at the Ambassadors Theatre in London, for a strictly limited season until 28 March 2026.
The new stage play is based on Oren Peli’s blockbuster Blumhouse film franchise, and was first produced at Leeds Playhouse last summer.
The cast also features Melissa James (Moulin Rouge!) as Lou, Pippa Winslow (Bonnie & Clyde) as Carolanne and Jackie Morrison (An Inspector Calls) as Etheline Cotgrave, all reprising their Leeds Playhouse performances.
The show’s understudies are Cheyenne Dasri (Alice in Wonderland) as Understudy Lou and Jake Solari (The 12 Dates of Christmas) as Understudy James.
Patrick Heusinger originated the role of James in Paranormal Activity at Leeds Playhouse, and has also played the part in the recent North American Premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theater and the Ahmanson Theater/Center Theater Group in LA.
His other stage credits include Next Fall and Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway. Patrick’s screen roles include films Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and Sweet Land; and TV credits including Absentia, Casual, and Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce.

Written by Levi Holloway (Grey House) and directed by Punchdrunk’s Felix Barrett, Paranormal Activity is produced by Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska for Melting Pot, in association with Gavin Kalin, Ken Davenport, Patrick Gracey, Jonathan & Rae Corr and Leeds Playhouse.
The creative team also includes set and costume design by Fly Davis, illusion design by Chris Fisher, video design by Luke Halls, lighting design by Anna Watson, sound design by Gareth Fry, and casting by Stuart Burt CDG and Ginny Schiller CDG.
