Chadwick Boseman’s Deep Azure made its electrifying UK premiere at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse – a fierce, heart-pounding tale of love, loss and the fight for justice.

Inspired by the real-life story of university student Prince Jones, and fuelled by the raw pulse of Hip-Hop theatre, Boseman’s lyrical, emotionally charged epic played at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse with thunderous impact, blending poetic fire with unstoppable energy.

Making his Globe debut, director Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu (For Black Boys…, Pig Heart Boy) brought Boseman’s vision to life in an unforgettable production.

The cast included Selina Jones (Kaos) as Azure, and Jayden Elijah (Saint X) as Deep.

Deep Azure ran at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse in London from 7 February to 2 May 2026.

What is Deep Azure about?

When her fiancé, Deep, is killed by the police, Azure’s world spirals out of control.

Powered by the spiritual imprint Deep has left on them all, Azure and Deep’s friends – Roshad and Tone – do their best to find peace in the wake of the tragedy. However, the Heavenly MCs of Street Knowledge have other plans for them.
