This collection brings together West End shows that are based on a book – from classic literature such as Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables and Gaston Leroux’s The Phantom of the Opera, to family and children’s classic including E Nesbit’s The Railway Children, Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda The Musical, Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman, Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island and The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.

Other shows based on a book include CATS, based on T S Elliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse, Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The Commitments by Roddy Doyle, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, and John Buchan’s The 39 Steps.
