The Royal Shakespeare Company’s smash-hit Matilda The Musical is celebrating 15 years in London’s West End with a booking extension through to January 2027. The production, which continues its acclaimed run at the Cambridge Theatre, has firmly established itself as a modern classic for audiences of all ages.
Since premiering in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2010 before transferring to the West End in October 2011, Matilda The Musical has become one of the most successful British musicals of the century. On 17 August 2025, the show achieved another milestone, officially becoming the 10th longest-running musical in West End history. To date, more than 12 million people have experienced the anarchic tale of Matilda Wormwood across 100 cities worldwide.
Written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and direction by Matthew Warchus, the production features design by Rob Howell, choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and illusions by Paul Kieve.

The current West End company features West End star Jon Robyns (Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera) as Miss Trunchbull, Tiffany Graves as Mrs Wormwood, Neil McDermott as Mr Wormwood and Eve Norris as Miss Honey. The title role is shared by Edie McCaig, Emilia Shefford, Suki Hillier and Mia Rogers, joined by a rotating company of young performers as Matilda’s classmates. As previously announced, the major UK and Ireland tour of Matilda The Musical will open at Leicester Curve on 6 October 2025, ensuring the story of the little girl who dared to change her own destiny continues to reach new audiences nationwide.
