Photos are out of the special London cast of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre, celebrating the show’s 40th anniversary.
The special cast are playing for 8 weeks only at the Sondheim Theatre, until 1 November 2025.
Cameron Mackintosh’s iconic production of Les Misérables hits a huge milestone this October 2025, with the world’s longest-running show celebrating its 40th anniversary after opening in London on 8 October 1985.
Boublil and Schönberg’s musical is featuring a special company of artists who have been part of Les Mis history, drawn from the West End, international productions, the movie and the current Arena Spectacular. They include Killian Donnelly as Jean Valjean, Bradley Jaden as Javert, Katie Hall as Fantine, Jac Yarrow as Marius, Shan Ako as Éponine, Jordan Shaw as Enjolras, Beatrice Penny-Touré as Cosette, Adam Gillen as Thénardier and Marina Prior as Madame Thénardier. Ian McIntosh is also playing Jean Valjean at some performances.

Les Miserables charity gala
Cameron Mackintosh announced this week that a special charity gala evening will take the Sondheim Theatre in London to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Les Misérables, on Wednesday 8 October 2025.
Guest artists will include Patti LuPone, Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Samantha Barks, Matt Lucas, Frances Ruffelle, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Gerónimo Rauch, Jeremy Secomb, Bonnie Langford and many more.
Also part of the 40th anniversary celebrations is the current Les Misérables The Arena Spectacular world tour, an expanded version of the Les Mis Staged Concert, with a company of over 110 actors, musicians and crew. The major world tour of this Arena version began performances at SSE Arena Belfast on 19 September 2024, and has then travelled around the UK, Europe, Australia, and now Asia. Further Asia, Europe and North American tour dates are expected to be announced soon.

Les Misérables is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and is based on the novel by Victor Hugo, with music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, additional material by James Fenton and adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird. Orchestrations are by Stephen Metcalfe, Christopher Jahnke and Stephen Brooker, with original orchestrations by John Cameron.

Les Misérables has been seen by over 130 million people worldwide in 55 countries, 452 cities, and has been translated into 22 languages. It has won over 180 major awards around the world, among which 4 Olivier Awards, including a special recognition award in April 2025, 8 Tony Awards and 5 Helpmann Awards, and the movie won 3 Oscars.
