Olly Alexander trained as an actor before rising to fame as the lead vocalist of Years & Years, earning multiple chart-topping records and six Brit Award nominations. His breakout television role as Ritchie Tozer in It’s a Sin received widespread critical acclaim and multiple Best Actor nominations. In 2024 he represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest playing 18th with the song “Dizzy”. He returns to the West End in 2025, following a one-off performance in White Rabbit, Red Rabbit at @sohoplace last year, and more than a decade after appearing in Peter & Alice alongside Dame Judi Dench at the Noël Coward Theatre.

Olly Alexander plays the role of Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest. Algernon Moncrieff is a wealthy, witty, and idle bachelor who is the nephew of Lady Bracknell and the cousin of Gwendolen Fairfax. He is known for his dandyish lifestyle, love of paradoxes, and the invention of an imaginary invalid friend named “Bunbury” to avoid social obligations. The role was previously played by Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa in the production at the National Theatre.
