50 First Dates The Musical is set to bring romance and comedy to The Other Palace Theatre in London this autumn.
A new musical adaptation of the hit 2004 film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore will have its world premiere from 14 September 2025 to 16 November 2025. Tickets go on sale today.
Leading the cast are Georgina Castle (Mean Girls, Dirty Dancing, Elf the Musical), as Lucy Whitmore, and Josh St. Clair (Ghost The Musical, Frozen, Wicked) as Henry Roth.
Further casting is to be announced.
Set against the sunny backdrop of Hawaii, the story follows Henry, a charming marine vet, as he falls for Lucy. But there’s a catch — Lucy suffers from short-term memory loss. Every day, she wakes up with no memory of the previous day.
Determined to win her over, Henry comes up with new ways to make Lucy fall for him again and again. The result is a heartwarming story filled with catchy songs, comedy, and a message about love and second chances.
The new musical is written by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen, the team behind the Off-Broadway comedy The Other Josh Cohen, based on George Wing’s screenplay for the movie.
Directing and choreographing is major Broadway and West End director, Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw (Mean Girls, The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Hercules).
The wider creative team features set and costume design by Fly Davis (Caroline Or Change), lighting design by Aideen Malone (Fiddler on the Roof), video design by George Reeve (Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends), sound design by Adam Fisher (Sunset Boulevard), hair and makeup design by Cynthia De La Rosa (Barcelona), orchestrations and arrangements by Matthew Jackson (Burlesque), the musical supervision and musical director is Richard Beadle (Hamilton), and the casting director is Natalie Gallacher for Natalie Gallacher and Pippa Ailion Casting.
Casey Nicholaw said in a statement: “50 First Dates is one of the most beloved romantic comedies of all time, and has also been one of my favorites ever since I first saw it. After watching it about 50 times as my “go to” movie on airplane flights, I realized it would really sing well and could be very special, so I began to start the ball rolling to turn it into a new stage musical. I’m so excited to direct and choreograph the world premiere of this new, funny and romantic show. I’m also thrilled to reunite with Georgina Castle after her phenomenal turn as Regina George in my production of Mean Girls, and to collaborate for the first time with the immensely talented Josh St. Clair. I can’t wait for London audiences to fall in love—again and again and again—when we open this September.”
Produced by ATG Productions, Bad Robot Live and Gavin Kalin Productions, 50 First Dates The Musical is playing at The Other Palace Theatre from 14 September 2025 to 16 November 2025.
Georgina Castle is currently starring as Regina George in Mean Girls The Musical at the Savoy Theatre in London, until 8 June 2025.
Casey Nicholaw’s next directing projects include Disney’s Hercules at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which starts on 6 June 2025.
Currently playing at The Other Palace is The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical until 15 June 2025.
