This year’s Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final is to be once again streamed into UK cinemas.

The biggest night in the music calendar promises to become the ultimate viewing party, with The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final played in UK cinemas at the same time as it is aired live by the BBC on Saturday 17 May 2025, from 8pm.

Switzerland are hosting Eurovision this year in Basel, following their victory at the 2024 contest with the song ‘The Code’ performed by Nemo. The country also staged the competition in Lugano in 1956 and Lausanne in 1989.

The UK’s entry this year is the female pop trio Remember Monday with their song ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’

Remember Monday features West End stars Lauren Byrne (Matilda The Musical, Six The Musical) and Holly-Anne Hull (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables), and choreographer and musician Charlotte Steele.

Remember Monday’s song, ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’, was written by the band members and Thomas Stengaard, who wrote the winning song from Eurovision 2013 – ‘Only Teardrops’, and Julie Aagaard, who wrote Austria’s 2024 ‘We Will Rave and Malta’s 2022 ‘I am What I am’.

Eurovision will be screened in over 100 cinemas nationwide, presented on the big screen and in surround sound.

The cinema screening is courtesy of CinemaLive, who also screened Eurovision into cinemas last year. The company also release West End musicals, and their current five West End releases include Les Misérables: The Staged Concert (2019); Jesus Christ Superstar: Live Arena Tour (2012); A Night With Janis Joplin: The Musical (2024); Billy Elliot: The Musical Live (2014); and Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical (2022) – which will be released in cinemas on 1 and 4 May 2025.

The UK has won the Eurovision Song Contest five times since it joined the competition in 1957. The UK’s last victory was in Eurovision 1997 with the song ‘Love Shine A Light’ performed by the band Katrina and the Waves.
