Gemma Arterton stars in Nell Gwynn at the Apollo Theatre
Hollywood and British film star Gemma Arterton returns to the West End in Jessica Swale’s West End transfer of Nell Gwynn.
Arterton was most recently in the West End in the musical Made in Dagenham at the Adelphi Theatre, playing the lead role of Rita O’Grady for which she won an Evening Standard Award for best newcomer in a musical.
Gemma trained at RADA. Her theatre credits include The Duchess of Malfi (Shakespeare’s Globe, Sam Wanamaker Theatre), The Little Dog Laughed (Garrick), Hilda Wangel in The Master Builder, and Rosaline in Love Labour’s Lost (Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre).
Her film work includes The Voices, Gemma Bovery, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Song for Marion, Byzantium, Runner, Runner, A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventure, Tamara Drewe, Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, The Boat that Rocked, Quantum of Solace, RocknRolla, Three and Out and St Trinian’s.
Gemma’s TV credits include Tess in the BBC adaptation of Tess of the D’Urbervilles, Elizabeth Bennett in ITV’s Lost in Austen, and Liza in Capturing Mary.
