FORTUNE’S FOOL: Iain Glen replaced in Old Vic production of Fortune’s Fool by William Houston

Iain Glen drops out of Old Vic production due to illness.

The Old Vic has announced that lead actor Iain Glen, who was starring in the Old Vic’s current production of Fortune’s Fool, has left the show due to illness.

The acclaimed stage and TV actor is to be replaced in the show by RSC veteran William Houston. Patrick Cremin, his understudy, is standing in for Glen until William Houston takes over.

The production was the West End premiere of the classic play by Ivan Turgenev, which opened in December to positive reviews.

An official statement from the theatre said: “Unfortunately Iain Glen is unwell and has been advised by his doctor to withdraw from Fortune’s Fool in order to regain his full health.”
