Late 19th Century America was a time of enormous innovation and social change.

And social change was nowhere more keenly felt than in the subject of female emancipation and sexuality. In New York State, a doctor called Givings was developing a strange new electrical device, with the aim of treating the condition known as female hysteria.

But his invention appeared to provide as much pleasure as any cure….!

A splendid cast includes Madeline Appiah (Elizabeth), Edward Bennet (Leo Irving), Natalie Casey (Catherine Givings), Jason Hughes (Dr. Givings), Flora Montgomery (Sabrina Daldry), Owen Oakeshott (Mr. Daldry) and Sarah Woodward (Annie).

The play is directed by Laurence Boswell, with design is by Simon Kenny, lighting by Ben Ormerod and sound by Fergus O’Hare.
