Acclaimed Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky brings his acclaimed production of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya to the Wyndham’s Theatre.
Performed in Russian with English surtitles, the production transfers from Moscow’s Moccobeta State Academic Theatre, one of the oldest and most respected theatres in Moscow.
Also playing in the season at the Wyndham’s is Chekhov’s Three Sisters, and both productions use the same settings and cast to highlight the striking similarities between Checkov’s two most celebrated plays.
Andrei Konchalovsky is an internationally acclaimed film and theatre director, producer and screenwriter. His film credits include In the Dark, The Lion in Winter, House of Fools, which won Grand Special Prize at the 2002 Venice International Film Festival, Inner Circle, Tango and Cash, Duet for One, Runaway Train and Uncle Vanya.
The ensemble cast includes Aleksandr Domogarov, Julia Vysotskaya, Pavel Derevyanko, Natalia Vdovina, Irina Kartasheva, Aleksandr Bobrovsky, Larisa Kuznetsova, Galina Bob, Vitaly Kistchenko, Anatoly Grishin and Vladas Bagdonas.
