Music: Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical releases first single “My Generation”

The Old Vic and producers of Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical have released the first track from the show on to streaming platforms.

The Who’s iconic hit ‘My Generation’, which is featured in the new musical, is sung by Naomi Katiyo, who plays Jemma in the show, and the company.

Just For One Day had its world premiere last week at The Old Vic, scoring positive reviews from the critics.

The musical is about Live Aid, the global phenomenon that took place in 1985, organised by Rock stars Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for the Ethiopian famine crisis.

The Old Vic show is directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, The Little Big Things, Starlight Express), and written by John O’Farrell (Mrs Doubtfire, Something Rotten), with Live Aid’s Bob Geldof collaborating on the project.

Joining Sheppard in the creative team are Matthew Brind (musical supervision, arrangements and orchestration), Ebony Molina (choreography), Soutra Gilmour (set design), Fay Fullerton (costumes), Howard Hudson (lighting design), Gareth Owen (sound design), Andrzej Goulding (video and animation), and Stuart Burt (casting).

The songs in Just For One Day are many of the hits performed at the Live Aid event, including songs from Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Who, U2, Queen, The Police, Elton John, Paul McCartney, The Pretenders, The Cars, Status Quo, Paul Weller, Sade, The Boomtown Rats, Bryan Adams, Diana Ross, Ultravox and more.

Just For One Day is playing at The Old Vic theatre in London, and booking to 30 March 2024.
