Stage and screen star David Tennant has confirmed that the production of Macbeth that he is currently starring in with Cush Jumbo at the Donmar Warehouse will come back to London in autumn 2024.
London dates and venue for Macbeth are to be confirmed.
Talking to Zoe Ball on her Radio 2 Breakfast show yesterday, Friday 10 February 2024, he said: “I think we might be doing another little run later in the year. I think I’m at liberty to reveal that this morning. We don’t know the theatre yet… somewhere in London. It’s just hot off the press… In the autumn I think”.

Macbeth at the Donmar Warehouse finishes today, Saturday 10 February, and stars David Tennant as Macbeth alongside Cush Jumbo as Lady Macbeth.
The cast also includes Moyo Akandé (Ross), Annie Grace (Musician & Gentlewoman), Brian James O’Sullivan(Donalbain/Soldier/Murderer & Musician), Casper Knopf (Macduff’s Son/Fleance/Young Siward), Cal MacAninch (Banquo), Kathleen MacInnes (The Singer & ensemble), Alasdair Macrae (Musician & ensemble), Rona Morison (Lady Macduff), Noof Ousellam (Macduff), Raffi Phillips (Macduff’s Son/Fleance/Young Siward), Jatinder Singh Randhawa (The Porter/Seytan), Ros Watt (Malcolm), andBenny Young (Duncan/Doctor).
The production is directed by Max Webster (Life of Pi), alongside Rosanna Vize (Designer), Bruno Poet (Lighting Designer), Gareth Fry (Sound Designer), Shelley Maxwell (Movement Director), Alasdair Macrae (Composer & Musical Director), Rachel Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown of RC-Annie Ltd (Fight Directors), and Anna Cooper CDG(Casting).
Macbeth started its run at the Donmar on 8 December 2023 and scored great reviews from the critics, including five-stars from the Guardian, Telegraph and Financial Times.
Most seats for the production sold out ahead of the run starting at the Donmar Warehouse, so a transfer to a venue larger than the 250-seater Donmar would be welcome by fans and theatregoers.
Other productions of Macbeth currently playing in London include Simon Godwin’s site-specific new production, that has started its London run tonight at Dock X. This Macbeth stars Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma, and is playing to 30 March 2024 – Macbeth at Dock X tickets.
In other David Tennant news, he is set to host this year’s BAFTA Film Awards 2024, which take place next Sunday, 18 February 2024.
