News about Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity to become a West End play from Life of Pi producer Simon Friend
West End producer Simon Friend (Life of Pi, The Crown Jewels) to produce The hit horror movie franchise Paranormal Activity is set to get a stage adaptation, with a new play that has its sights set on a West End. Simon Friend (Life of Pi) has snapped up stage rights to the story from Paramount and Blumhouse, with Levi Holloway (Grey House) writing the play. The multi-million dollar franchise spawned six movies, the first directed and written by Oren Peli. The story is about a family being haunted by a demon. Alongside the hugely successful Tony and Olivier award-winning stage adaptation of movie Life of Pi, Simon Friend has also produced stage adaptations of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, and Deborah Moggach's The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.  He is also working on a forthcoming movie adaptation of hit play Clybourne Park, and produced movie The Father starring Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins. Friend's current West End shows include The Crown Jewels, which plays its final performance in London tonight at the Garrick Theatre before heading out on tour. Levi Holloway's recent play Grey House, a spooky thriller that starred Laurie Metcalf, Tatiana Maslany and Paul Sparks, played on Broadway earlier this year. There's no current news on dates, venues or casting for a West End run of Paranormal Activity. Scary and genre plays are in vogue at the moment, with 2:22 A Ghost Story having proved a huge hit in London. The show is finishing up at the Apollo Theatre tomorrow, before heading out on tour. Also Stranger Things: The First Shadow starts its run at the Phoenix Theatre in November; and someway off, but apparently still a live project, is the stage adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining, starring Ben Stiller and directed by Ivo van Hove. This news first appeared in The Hollywood Reporter. More about Paranormal Activity tickets in London
