Interrogating censorship, authorship and free speech, A Mirror is directed by Jeremy Herrin (Best of Enemies). 

The production is running at the Almeida Theatre from 15 August to 23 September.

What's the story of A Mirror?

“I do solemnly declare, of my own accord and without coercion, according to the constitution of this country, and the oath I have sworn to its people and its leadership, that I know not of any lawful impediment why I Joel may not be joined in marriage to Leyla.” 

With great pleasure Leyla and Joel invite you to celebrate their marriage. Dress code is smart casual. Doors at 7.30pm, followed by the exchange of vows. And at the signal, the entertainment will begin.

Jonny Lee Miller, Tanya Reynolds and Micheal Ward to star in A Mirror at Almeida Theatre
Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting; Elementary), Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education; Scenes with Girls) and Micheal Ward (Empire of Light; Top Boy) will star in the world premiere of elusive and explosive new play A Mirror by Sam Holcroft (Rules for Living) . Interrogating censorship, authorship and free speech, A Mirror is directed by Jeremy Herrin (Best of Enemies) and runs at the Almedia Theatre from 15 August to 23 September 2023. Further plans for the show including a West End transfer have not yet been announced. Jonny Lee Miller returns to the Almeida having previously appeared in Festen and the Almeida’s production of Ink on Broadway. His other theatre credits include Frankenstein (National Theatre, Olivier Award for Best Actor) and Someone Who'll Watch Over Me (West End). His television credits include The Crown, Elementary and Dexter. The creative team includes set and costume by Max Jones, lighting design by Azusa Ono, sound design and music by Nick Powell, fight direction by Jonathan Holby and casting director Jessica Ronane CDG. The Almeida Theatre also announced the full community company for 24 (Day): The Measure of My Dreams, the first in a trilogy of plays exploring what it means to live, work, love, pray, celebrate and mourn in Islington. The cast includes 100 community participants, aged between 16 and 98. The role of Liz will be played by Jean Woollard, who takes on her first professional acting role in 50 years. Next up at the Almeida is a new production by Rebecca Frecknall (A Streetcar Named Desire, Cabaret) of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, starring Ted lasso's Toheeb Jimoh, and Isis Hainsworth. The Almeida also has a West End transfer currently running, with Peter Morgan's acclaimed play Patriots now playing at the Noel Coward Theatre until 19 August 2023 starring Tom Hollander.
