★★★★★ “The evening triumphs… a barrel-load of offence-giving fun” – Telegraph

Witness the greatest cast ever assembled live on stage, as the world-famous Spitting Image puppets tread the boards of London’s theatreland for the first time ever in Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image The Musical.

Don’t miss this theatrical spectacle as all your favourite villains face off with Tiny Top Gun Tom and his band of rubbery heroes. There’s songs. There’s dancing. There’s absolutely no respect paid to anyone.

All this plus new topical material in the show as and when it arises. Which, let’s face it, with the current global situation will be most days…

It’s just like a West End musical but funnier and also doesn’t have Michael Ball in it.

Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image The Musical is running at the Phoenix Theatre until 26 August 2023.

A strictly limited West End season of Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image The Musical will run at the Phoenix Theatre on Charing Cross Road from 24 May through 26 August 2023. Spitting Image The Musical at the Phoenix Theatre. Photo by Mark Senior With a plot more improbable than the last year of British politics, and constantly re-written to keep up with the frenetic pace of news, the show features a who's who in the world of politics, celebrity and evil despots, Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image The Musical is a comic return of the much-loved TV programme live on stage. Introduced by Master of Ceremonies Sir Ian McKellen, the musical features a stellar line-up of over 100 puppets of the great and the not so good.  Tom Cruise is tasked by His Majesty The King to create the UK’s very own ‘Magnificent Seven’ of celebrity misfits - Tom Cruise, Greta Thunberg, Meghan Markle, Tyson Fury, RuPaul, Angela Rayner and Idris Elba -  to save the nation from a cabal of dark forces seeking to destroy it - that’s all the usual suspects. And James Corden.   They are joined by:  Ant & Dec, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Keir Starmer, Stormzy, Vladimir Putin, The Tory Party Cabinet and many many many many many more.  Al Murray said in a press statement: "When Spitting Image first appeared on British TV it blew people's minds. Now it's going to do it all over again in the West End.  All the elements the show was famed for: outrageous depictions of the great and the not so good, catchy songs, famous faces saying the things you've always wanted to hear them say, all reinvented for the stage. You won't know where to look!" Matt Forde said: "Nothing can prepare you for what you're about to see, it's the wildest show in the West End. I don't want to give anything away, but you'll never look at Suella Braverman in the same way again." Sean Foley said: "I’m thrilled that Spitting Image The Musical is set to transfer to the West End.  Audiences at Birmingham Rep, where the show premiered, loved the classic Spitting Image mix of political satire, celebrity send up and Royal family soap opera.  With Rishi Sunakand Angela Raynerbattling it out, Tom Cruise making his theatrical debut and Adelesinging her heart out, I hope this uniquely anarchic musical will continue to make people laugh." The TV show ran for 18 series and won numerous BAFTA and Emmy awards, with the show returning to ITV in three popular specials. Spitting Image Live stage show to premiere at Birmingham Rep
A new Spiting Image Live theatre show will premiere at Birmingham Rep in February 2023. 40 years after the hugely popular satirical sketch show Spitting Image was first filmed in Birmingham, the iconic puppets return to the city for the World Premiere of Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image Saves the World. Directed by Birmingham Rep’s Artistic Director, double Olivier Award-winner, Sean Foley, the show will run at Birmingham Rep from 1 February to 11 March 2023.  With a creative team that includes original Spitting Image co-creator, Roger Law, alongside a comedy tour de force writing team of Al Murray, Matt Forde and Sean Foley,  Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image Saves the World promises to be the unmissable, laugh-out-loud show to kick-start 2023.  Sean Foley said:   ‘Trying to develop a satirical comedy based on the shifting politics of today has been the original fool’s errand: we’ve already thrown away 3 entire scripts - and several famous puppets aren’t even going to make their stage debuts anymore… But the sheer joy of casting Tom Cruise alongside King Charles, Greta Thunberg, RuPaul and Meghan Markle has made up for it. To be premiering this theatrical extravaganza in Birmingham, the home of the original ground-breaking television series, is a wonderful thrill.’ ‘It’s a who’s who of the good, the bad and the ugly’ commented Al Murray. ‘I know Marvel like to say it,  but our show is the greatest cross over event of all time.  Where else could you get Michael Gove, Tom Cruise, Sir Ian McKellen, Idris Elba, Daniel Craig, Fiona Bruce and Paddington Bear on a single stage?’ Matt Forde added: ‘We are living through an insane, abnormal, infuriating period, so the timing of this show couldn't be better. It's vital that we see our leaders lampooned with cutting satire and yes, whacked over the head with a big stick.’  World famous celebrities will be thrown together as Tom Cruise is tasked by King Charleswith saving Great Britain. Greta Thunberg duets with Stormzy as Putin and Xi watch on from their premium seats in the stalls. Have they just come out for a night on the town? Or will they wipe out all of civilisation?  A show simultaneously inspired and appalled by real events. The BAFTA and Emmy award-winning satirical Spitting Image television series originally ran for 18 series between 1984 and 1996, and was watched by over 15 million viewers. It recently made a popular return to TV on BritBox, where across official social media channels, Spitting Image content has been hugely popular with over 200 million views globally.
