Full casting revealed for new K T Tunstall musical Saving109779 Grace which has just begun rehearsals in London.
Dianne Pilkington, most recently seen in Bedknobs & Broomsticks will play the title character Grace.
Joining Pilkington in the cast are David Fynn (Matthew), Cat Simmons (Nicky), Gunnar Cauthery (Dr Bamford), Craig Ferguson (Charley), Ellen O’Grady (Morgelyn), Gay Soper (Posy), Wendy Somerville (Pam) and Tim Prottey-Jones (Shag).
Completing the cast are Nathanael Campbell, Taite-Elliot Drew, Claire O’Leary, Anna MacLeod, Johan Munir, Tasha Sheridan, Madison Swan and Silas Wyatt-Barke.
Saving Grace will play Riverside Studios in Hammersmith for 12 performances only, from 22 November to 4 December 2022.
The new musical adaptation of movie Saving Grace, which starred Brenda Blethyn, was rumoured to be coming to London in February.
Laurence Connor (Cinderella, Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon) is directing. Also in the creative team will be John Rigby (musical supervision and arrangements), Laura Hopkins (set and costume design), Bruno Poet (lighting), Richard Brooker (sound) and David Grindrod (casting).
Adapted by playwright April de Angelis, based on Craig Ferguson and Mark Crowdy’s original movie screenplay, Saving Grace The Musical has music and lyrics by BRIT Award winning Scottish singer songwriter KT Tunstall (Suddenly I See).
The show had a private reading in February 2022 organised by producer Bernie Wragg, who was previously Managing Director at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group, and was rumoured then to be getting a December 2022 off-West End try out.
The 2000 movie was directed by Nigel Cole and starred Brenda Blethyn and Craig Ferguson. Set in Cornwall, the movie is about a middle aged widow whose irresponsible husband left her with huge debts, forcing her to grow cannabis in her greenhouse along with her gardener Matthew to avoid losing her house. The movie also starred Martin Clunes, Diana Quick, Phyllida Law, Ken Campbell and Bill Bailey.
The show will be produced by Barney Wragg, Liz Murdoch, Xavier Marchand, Craig Ferguson and Mark Crowdy.
Currently playing at the Riverside Studios is gothic romance Cages.
