Hit West End musical & Juliet at the Shaftesbury Theatre has announced three new principle cast members.
The musical, which features the songs of pop supremo Max Martin, will see Nicolas Colicos join the cast as Lance, Billy Nevers as Francois and Joe Foster as May. The trio join the cast from 26 September 2022.
They replace the current cast of Julius D’Silva as Lance, Tim Mahendran, who is joining the cast of The Time Traveller’s Wife, as Francois, and Alex Thomas-Smith as May.
& Juliet has also announced that it is extending its booking period until September 2023 at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
The existing cast includes & Juliet Olivier Award winners Miriam-Teak Lee as Juliet and Cassidy Janson as Anne Hathaway, plus Oliver Tompsett as William Shakespeare, Tom Francis as Romeo, and Malinda Parris as Angelique, the Nurse.
The ensemble includes Ebony Clarke, Bessy Ewa, Collette Guitart, Cassandra Lee, Nathan Louis-Fernand, Zara MacIntosh, Carl Man, Christian Maynard, Rachel Moran, Owen Saward, Aaron Shales, Benjamin Terry and Suki Wong, who join Ivan De Freitas, Rhian Duncan, Alex Tranter, Sophie Usher and Rhys Wilkinson..
Nicolas Colicos’ stage credits include Sister Act at the London Palladium, The Producers in the West End and Bill in the original cast of Mamma Mia. His film and TV work includes Kingsman II, Superman IV and Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
Billy Nevers was in the original ensemble of & Juliet, and his other theatre work includes Legally Blonde at Regents Park Open Air Theatre and Jesus Christ Superstar at the Barbican and Regents Park.
Joe Foster recently appeared in Legally Blonde at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Hex at the National Theatre and Rent at Hope Mill Theatre.
& Juliet features the music of songwriter Max Martin, with many of hits written for Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Ariana Grande, included such as Baby One More Time, Everybody (Backstreet’s Back), Love Me Like You Do, Confident, It’s My Life, Can’t Feel My Face and the roof-raising Roar.
The show is directed by Luke Sheppard, with a book by David West Read (Schitt’s Creek), choreography from Jennifer Weber, set design from Soutra Gilmour and costume design by Paloma Young. The music is arranged by Tony® and Grammy Award-winning orchestrator Bill Sherman.
