Stars on the West End stage in London in 2022

Stars of stage and screen head to London’s West End in 2022 in acclaimed Broadway transfers, West End revivals and World Premiere productions.

Looking for a star led musical? Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything, The Danish Girl,) and rising star Jessie Buckley (Judy, The Lost Daughter) star in Rebecca Frecknall’s transformative revival of the iconic musical Cabaret; soul singer Beverley Knight stars in the world premiere production of new musical The Drifters Girl; Strictly star Danny Mac continues his stellar run in the musical stage adaptation of Pretty Woman; Julian Ovenden (Downton Abbey) and Gina Beck will appear in Chichester Festival’s West End transfer of South Pacific; and, Jennifer Saunders (AbFab)will finally get to play Mother Superior in the big ticket revival of musical comedy Sister Act The Musical.

2022 will see West End stage debuts from famous faces in Hollywood film and prestige tv. Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, The Last Duel) will star in the UK premiere of Suzie Miller’s award-winning one-person play, Prima Facie in April; Amy Adams (Sharp Objects, Being Julia, American Hustle) will play Amanda Wingfield in Tennessee Williams’ heart-rending masterpiece The Glass Menagerie in May; and, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Solo: A Star Wars Story ) will play Nina in a modern adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull in June.

West End revivals include Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson (The Affair) in The Human Voice; multi-award winner Mark Rylance and Mackenzie Crook (The Office) in the eagerly anticipated Tony and Olivier award winning play Jerusalem; Taron Egerton (Kingsmen, Rocketman) and Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) in Mike Bartlett’s razor sharp play Cock; and, James McAvoy in Jamie Lloyd’s acclaimed production of Cyrano De Bergerac.

Rafe Spall will star in the Broadway transfer of Aaron Sorkin’ s acclaimed adaptation of To Kill A Mockingbird, and star casting is soon to be announced for Bartlett Sher’s transfer of My Fair Lady.
