Musical comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Savoy Theatre starring Robert Lindsay, Alex Gaumond, Katherine Kingsley, Bonnie Langford and Gary Wilmot.

Olivier, Tony and BAFTA winning actor Robert Lindsay (Oliver!, My Family) and acclaimed musicals actor Alex Gaumond (Matilda, We Will Rock You, Legally Blonde) star as rival conmen Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson in musical comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Now playing at the Savoy Theatre, this UK premiere of the hit musical is based on the 1988 movie starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin.

Lindsay and Gaumond are joined in the show by acclaimed actress Katherine Kingsley (Singin’ in the Rain) as Christine Colgate, Bonnie Langford as Muriel Eubanks and Gary Wilmot as Andre Thibault.

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winning Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels features music and lyrics by David Yazbek (The Full Monty) and a book by the Golden Globe winner Jeffery Lane (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) and set and costumes are by Peter McKintosh.

THE STORY

Against the glamorous backdrop of the French Riviera, this musical comedy centres on the decadent world of sophisticated conman Lawrence Jameson (Robert Lindsay), whose world is set to come crashing down with the arrival of rival conman Freddy Benson (Alex Gaumond). As the two go head-to-head to out-con each other and the affections of soap heiress Christine Colgate (Katherine Kingsley).

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels stars Robert Lindsay, Rufus Hound, Katherine Kingsley and Samantha Bond, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde).

The show garnered great reviews when it opened in April 2014 and the comedy caper is proving a big draw at the Savoy Theatre box office.

Based on the much-loved Michael Caine and Steve Martin movie, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels The Musical is headlined by Olivier and Tony award winner Robert Lindsay (Me And My Girl, Oliver!, My Family) and comedian Rufus Hound (Neville’s Island, One Man Two Guv’nors).

The two play conmen Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson, who compete on the glamorous French Riviera for the riches and the heart of the young impressionable heiress, Christine Colgate (Katherine Kingsley – Singin’ in the Rain).

The show forms the first collaboration between Jerry Mitchell Productions and Ambassador Theatre Group, who own the Savoy Theatre.

Dominic Tribuzio is a West End dancer and actor, currently appearing in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Savoy Theatre.

Currently wowing them in the ensemble at the Savoy Theatre is West End hottie Dominc Tribuzio.

After training at the McMahon School of Ballet and Theatre Dance in South Yorkshire Dominic snared himself an apprenticeship with The New English Contemporary Ballet company.

Whilst on the company’s debut tour Dominic scooped a Critics’ Choice nomination by Dance Europe for Most Promising Dancer.

Dominic has gone on to appear in a number of shows including understudying Ambrose Kemper in Hello, Dolly! at the Curve in Leicester and Britney in We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre.

Other roles include a suitably buff Rocky in National Tour of The Rocky Horror Show, playing Zeke Baylor and understudy for Troy Bolton in the National Tour of Disney’s High School Musical and understudying Peter in the international Arena Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.

His West End debut came in Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace Theatre where he understudied and played the part of Older Billy.

Dominic is no stranger to working with Jerry Mitchell at the Savoy having appeared in Mitchell’s production of Legally Blonde at the theatre – and now appearing in Mitchell’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels alongside Samantha Bond, Robert Lindsay, Rufus Hound and Katherine Kingsley.

Rehearsals for big new musical comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels are in full spring, in preparation for its 10 March 2014 opening at the Savoy Theatre.

Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde) is in the director’s chair for the show, which stars Robert Lindsay, Rufus Hound, Katherine Kingsley and Samantha Bond.

Today, Thursday 23 January, also saw a launch event in London for the show.

Robert Lindsay (Lawrence Jameson) is an Olivier, Tony and BAFTA award-winning actor. He is best known for his brilliantly comedic performance in My Family, which ran for nine series and for which he was nominated for the 2001 BAFTA for Best Comedy Performance, and on stage his award winning performance in Me And My Girl, alongside Emma Thompson, for which he won an Olivier and Tony Award. KATHERINE KINGSLEY

Katherine Kingsley’s (Christine Colgate) last musical theatre role was in Singinʼ In The Rain at Chichester Festival Theatre/Palace Theatre, West End, for which she was nominated for both the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical and the 2013 What’s On Stage Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. BONNIE LANGFORD

Bonnie Langford’s (Muriel Eubanks) extensive West End roles began at the age of seven with Gone with the Wind at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The following year she played ‘Baby June’ in Gypsy opposite Angela Lansbury at the Piccadilly Theatre which also went on a national tour, before a run on Broadway (for which she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award). She has starred in many smash hit musicals including Cats at the New London Theatre (original London cast); ‘Roxie Hart’ in Chicago at the Adelphi Theatre/Cambridge Theatre and on Broadway/North American national tour,The Pirates Of Penzance at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and London Palladium; Peter Pan – The Musical (playing the title role) at the Aldwych Theatre; Me And My Girl at the Adelphi Theatre; and her much acclaimed portrayal of ‘Charity’ in Sweet Charity at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Further stage credits include playing The Lady Of The Lake in Spamalot at the Playhouse Theatre, Roz Keith in 9 to 5, The Musical on UK tour and on Broadway she starred in her own critically acclaimed cabaret show as part of the Brits Off Broadway season at 59E59 Theatres. She has toured the UK in Oklahoma!; Charlie Girl; 42nd Street and as ‘Miss Adelaide’ in Guys and Dolls (Donmar Warehouse Theatre Production) and Fosse.
Bonnie appeared in the hit musical film Bugsy Malone and many TV series including Just William, The Lena and Bonnie Show, the award-winning Hot Shoe Show, Hotel Babylon, Marple, The Catherine Tate Show, The Spa and as the 22nd assistant to BBC TV’s Doctor Who. She has been the subject of ITV’s This Is Your Life. In 2006, she learned to ice skate in front of millions on the hit show Dancing on Ice, skating her way to the final. Bonnie returned to the ice for the special Champion of Champions, before taking part in Dancing on Ice – The Live Tour, in both 2007 and 2008. Earlier this year she returned for the final series of Dancing On Ice.

GARY WILMOT

Gary Wilmot’s (Andre Thibault)  musical theatre stardom began following in Robert Lindsay’s shoes, playing the role of Bill Snibson to critical acclaim in the hit musical production of Me and My Girl at the Adelphi Theatre. His other extensive theatre credits include
The Pajama Game at the Shaftesbury Theatre, From Hackney to Hollywood on a UK Tour, Radio Times at the Watermill Theatre/UK Tour, Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime on UK Tour, The Invisible Man at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Chicago on UK Tour, Half a Sixpence on UK Tour, HMS Pinafore, A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park, Travels with my Aunt on UK Tour, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium, One for the Road at Bristol Old Vic, Goodbye Girl at the Albery Theatre, Carmen Jones at the Old Vic, Copacobana (World Premiere) at the Prince of Wales Theatre and Me And My Girl at the Adelphi Theatre. On television Gary was well known for presenting hit shows including the BBC’s Showstoppers, originally a one off series, which proved so popular it extended to a further six series and even went on a sell out national tour. He was also a brilliant children’s TV presenter for shows including Copycats, So You Want to be Top, Punchlines, Cue Gary and Saturday Gang.
