The Broadway rock musical set in Hollywood in the 1980s featuring BIG chords, dreams and hair, and including some of the biggest rock anthems ever!

Featuring some of the greatest rock songs of the ’80s, Rock of Ages is a full-on theatrical party and the ultimate feel good night out.

It’s a love story that will have you rocking, rolling, head banging and wailing along to your favorite songs – including “Don’t Stop Believing,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “Wanted Dead or Alive” from Journey, Styx, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Poison, Foreigner, Pat Benatar and more!

THE STORY: It’s 1987 in Los Angeles, and Drew, the janitor of a night club, longs to take the stage and front a rock band. Fresh faced Sherri has just arrived from Kansas with musical aspirations of her own. When corporate buyers threaten the Sunset Strip club that they call home, the team of outcasts, including legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx, must fight for their club and each other.

Producers of 80’s rock musical Rock of Ages have announced that the show is to close.

Currently playing at the Garrick Theatre in London’s West End, Rock of Ages will complete it’s run on 2 November 2013 before going on a tour of the UK.

A hit on Broadway, and turned into a 2012 movie starring Tom Cruise, the London production originally opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in September 2011 before moving to the Garrick Theatre in January this year.

The jukebox show features a list of classic 1980’s hits by Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Poison, Europe, Twisted Sister and more. The UK show originally starred Shayne Ward and Justin Lee Collins; the current cast includes former Mike and the Mechanics vocalist Tim Howar and Daniel Fletcher.

The timetable has been published for West End Live, the free annual theatre event that returns to London next weekend, on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June 2012.

West End Live 2012Back for its 8th year,  this spectacular celebration of West End shows returns to Trafalgar Square and for the first time will feature every single West End musical over the two days of the event.

West End musicals taking part in the weekend include new shows Top Hat, Ragtime, Singin’ in the Rain, Spamalot, Horrible Histories, One Man, Two Guvnors, Matilda The Musical and Sweeney Todd.

They will be joined by long-running shows including Rock of AgesGhost The MusicalThe Wizard Of OzShrek The MusicalStompMamma Mia!Disney’s The Lion KingBilly ElliotJersey BoysThriller LiveChicagoWicked, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Blood Brothers, Dreamboats and Petticoats, and We Will Rock You.

Stars will be out in force for the event, with performances promised by some of the West End’s top talent including Ghost’s Mark Evans, We Will Rock You’s Alex Gaumond, West End favourites Louise Dearman and Daniel Boys, and the casts of all the top shows.

There will also be performances from the West End Gospel Choir, the National Youth Music Theatre, Drag Divas and much more.

Organised by Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre, in association with MasterCard, this year’s event will run from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 23 June and 12pm to 6pm on Sunday 24 June.

The smash-hit Broadway musical Rock of Ages has started to rock London, with preview shows now playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre, and an opening night set for 27 September 2011.

The show is headlined by Justin Lee Collins and Shayne Ward, joined by West End stars Amy Pemberton, Oliver Tompsett and Simon Lipkin.
