Old Times at the Harold Pinter Theatre starring Kristin Scott Thomas
October 24, 2012
A Harold Pinter play finally makes it to the theatre named in his honour as his compelling drama Old Times plays at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 12 January 2013.
Old Times features an all-star cast including Hollywood actress Kristin Scott Thomas alternating in the role of Kate and Anna with Lia Williams, and Rufus Sewell as Deeley.
Kristin Scott Thomas teams up again with director Ian Rickson for the piece, following their successful and acclaimed collaborations on Pinter’s Betrayal and Chekhov’s The Seagull.
Pinter’s seductive and hypnotic drama is set in a remote farmhouse, as Kate, Deeley and Anna reminisce about their lives as young people in London. But conflicting memories and sexual tensions rear up to make the past seem surprisingly present.
Kristin Scott Thomas has won a number of awards for both her screen and stage roles including an Oscar nomination for The English Patient, a BAFTA award for Four Weddings and a Funeral and an Olivier Award for The Seagull. Lia Williams is a stage actress with credits including Pinter’s The Homecoming and David Hare’s Skylight. Rufus Sewell is an award-winning actor with roles including Eleventh Hour for CBS and recently Tom Stoppard’s Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Photos: Rehearsals of A Chorus of Disapproval at the Harold Pinter Theatre
September 11, 2012
Rehearsal photos of Alan Ayckbourn’s A Chorus of Disapproval at the Harold Pinter Theatre.
This month Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy A Chorus of Disapproval is set for a big-name revival at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London.

Directed by Trevor Nunn, the play stars Rob Brydon (Gavin & Stacey) making his West End stage debut, alongside Olivier Award winner Nigel Harman (Shrek The Musical) and British Comedy Award winner Ashley Jensen (Ugly Betty). It is the first time that the play has been produced in the West End since the National Theatre transferred its hit production in 1986.
In the comedy, there is chaos when the Pendon Amateur Light Operatic Society’s production of The Beggar’s Opera goes off the rails. It’s only when shy, handsome widower Guy (Nigel Harman) joins the group that things start to look up and Guy becomes a big hit with the show’s hysterical director Dafydd (Rob Brydon) and the show’s leading ladies, including Dafydd’s wife Hannah (Ashley Jensen). Romantic rivalry, petty squabbles and back-stage bitching means that there is plenty more going on behind-the-scenes than on the stage in Ayckbourn’s timeless, classic comedy.
A Chorus of Disapproval begins previews on 17 September 2012. The creative team includes Trevor Nunn as director, designs by Robert Jones, lighting by Tim Mitchell, sound by Fergus O’Hare and music direction by Steven Edis.
Other cast members include Jessica Ellerby, Barrie Rutter, Paul Thornley, Susan Tracy, Banham, Daisy Beaumont, Georgia Brown, Rob Compton, Matthew Cottle and Steven Edis.
