Ambassador Theatre Group posts strong rise in sales
September 3, 2012
The West End’s biggest theatre owner, Ambassador Theatre Group, has seen a strong rise in sales in the last year.

Hits including Ghost The Musical have boosted profits for ATG
Posting their annual results, the theatre chain, which is also the largest theatre owner in the UK with 39 venues, enjoyed a 17% increase in revenues to £111m in the last 12 months to March 2012. Operating profits rose nearly 70% to £15.5m.
ATG’s regional theatres are performing especially well with big touring productions such as Dirty Dancing, South Pacific and Legally Blonde the Musical bringing in the cash. They also own a large number of London theatre venues including the Duke of York’s, Apollo Victoria and the Savoy Theatre.
The group is led by husband and wide Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire and has grown considerably in the last few years, notably with the acquisition of Live Nation’s UK theatres.
ATG also produce or co-produce shows, with current hits including Monty Python’s Spamalot at the Harold Pinter Theatre, Ghost the Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre, and the Royal Court season at the Duke of York’s including current play Jumpy. Forthcoming shows include The Mystery of Charles Dickens starring Simon Callow at the Playhouse Theatre and a UK tour of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 The Musical.

May 27, 2012

Why should I see it?
Musicals don’t get much more romantic than Ghost.Especially during its iconic love scene at a potter’s wheel, played out to the strains of Unchained Melodyand made famous in the Oscar-winning film starring Patrick Swayze. So if you want to treat your other half to a date to remember, this is the show to take them to.But what makes Ghost unmissable are its jaw-dropping stage illusions and hi-tech special effects. Characters disappear through doors, fly above the stage and magically vanish before your eyes. You’ve never seen anything like it.
About the show
Based on the Oscar-winning movie, lovebirds Sam and Molly are mugged on their way home one evening, and Sam is murdered on a darkened street.
