The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s acclaimed production of Crazy For You has transferred to the West End’s Novello Theatre.
The show reunites director Timothy Sheader and choreographer Stephen Mear, who brought the multi-award winning production of Hello, Dolly! to the Open Air in 2009.

The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre smash hit Gershwin musical CRAZY FOR YOU will transfer to London’s West End, opening at the Novello Theatre on Friday 7 October. Cameron Mackintosh, who was full of praise when he saw the show in Regent’s Park, is thrilled to be able to play host to the production in one of his theatres. CRAZY FOR YOU reunites director Timothy Sheader and choreographer Stephen Mear, who were responsible for the multi-award winning production of Hello, Dolly!.
CRAZY FOR YOU, with book by Ken Ludwig, is one of the most joyous musicals, with a Gershwin score containing some of the brothers’ most beautiful and memorable songs, including I Got Rhythm, Someone to Watch Over Me, Embraceable You, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, Shall We Dance, But Not For Me, and Nice Work If You Can Get It.
The entire company of the Regent’s Park production will star in the West End run, led by theatre veterans Harriet Thorpe and David Burt, and introducing to the British stage the highly respected Broadway performer, Sean Palmer as Bobby Child, alongside Clare Foster as Polly Baker, Kim Medcalf as Irene Roth and Michael McKell as Lank. The sets and costumes are by Peter McKintosh, who also designed the Open Air Theatre’s Hello, Dolly!, as well as The 39 Steps, Butley, Love Story and Luise Miller, amongst others. Lighting design is by Tim Mitchell.

Crazy For You replaces Cameron Mackintosh show Betty Blue Eyes at the Novello, which closes on 24 September 2011.

Ken Ludwig and Mike Ockrent’s joyous musical Crazy For You, featuring the songs of George & Ira Gershwin, has returned to London at long last.
Playing until 10 September at the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park, the hit musical comedy features classic tunes such as “I Got Rhythm”, “Someone To Watch Over Me”, “Embraceable You” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It”.
The creative team from the Olivier Award winning production of the Open Air’s Hello, Dolly! have reunited for the show, including director Timothy Sheader, assisted by Paul Foster, choreographer Stephen Mear and designer Peter McKintosh.
The talented cast includes Sean Palmer as Bobby Child, Clare Foster as Polly Baker, Kim Medcalf as Irene Roth, Michael McKell as Lank Hawkins and David Burt as Bela Zangler.

Lord of The Flies

William Golding’s classic novel is brought to the stage by the same team as last season’s The Crucible. After a group of schoolboys survive a massive plane crash, what starts as a classic desert island adventure quickly becomes a struggle for survival as superstition and immorality sees the community slide into a darkly sinister world. This production promises to rediscover this gripping drama in the unconfined and atmospheric setting of the open air. Recommended for ages 11+.

The Beggar’s Opera

Director Lucy Bailey injects her trademark visual dynamism into John Gay’s original text and The City Waites, led by Roddy and Lucy Skeaping, use authentic instruments to recreate the popular ballads and folk tunes of the time. In The Beggar’s Opera a tangled web of lies and deceit blissfully unravels between innocent but feisty heroine Polly Peachum, her wronged rival Lucy Lockit and Macheath, their irrepressible highwayman lover. Set deep in London’s underworld, this comedy of highwaymen, hangmen and harlots is an uncompromising exposure of moral and financial corruption.
