London leads the world in acclaimed and award-winning plays, from nail-biting thrillers to intense drama and hilarious comedy.

Major drama productions in London over Christmas include Kristin Scott Thomas in Electra (until 20 December) at the Old Vic, War Horse at the New London Theatre, Tim Pigott-Smith in the Almeida’s five-star production of King Charles III at the Wyndham’s Theatre, Antony Sher in the RSC’s Henry IV Parts I and II at the Barbican Theatre and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at the Gielgud Theatre.

Crowd-pleasing comedy productions include the lavish stage adaptation of Shakespeare in Love at the Noel Coward Theatre, Adrian Edmondson and Neil Morrissey in Neville’s Island at the Duke of Yorks, Jane Horrocks in East is East at the Trafalgar Studios, madcap slapstick comedy The Play That Goes Wrong at the Duchess Theatre and Richard Bean’s hit comedy Great Britain at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
