The district of London known as the West End is famous throughout the world for its theatres. Originally the West End consisted of the areas of Marylebone, Fitzrovia, Soho and Mayfair, although nowadays Covent Garden and Charing Cross are also viewed by many as being part of the West End. It's also hard to talk about theatres in London without including those on the South Bank of the Thames , such as the National Theatre and the Old Vic, although these are not strictly within the bounds of the West End district. Please find a map of the West End below marking all the major theatres, or see an enlarged Theatreland map here.
