Maureen Lipman will direct the stage premiere of Jack Rosenthal’s The Knowledge at Charing Cross Theatre.
Lipman, who starred in the original film and is Rosenthal’s widow said “Simon Block has created a wonderful stage adaptation that preserves all the best of Jack’s original writing, and I am really excited to be involved.”
Simon Block’s adaptation is based on Jack Rosenthal’s iconic 1979 comedy TV film about four Londoners who try to better themselves by attempting the fearsome “Knowledge”.
Casting is yet to be announced.
The creative team includes set design by Nicolai Hart-Hansen, costume design by Jonathan Lipman and sound design Andrew Johnson.
The Knowledge will run from 4 September 2017 until 11 November 2017 at Charing Cross Theatre.
