Initial casting has been announced for the West End production of Mel Brooks’ YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN

Hadley Fraser will lead the cast as Young Frankenstein with Lesley Joseph (Birds of a Feather) as housekeeper Frau Blucher and Ross Noble playing servant Igor.

Fraser’s work includes Long Day’s Journey Into Night (Bristol Old Vic), Kenneth Branagh’s productions of The Winter’s Tale / Harlequinade (Garrick), The Vote, City of Angels and Coriolanus for the Donmar and Les Mis and Phantom in the West End.

Based on Brook’s 1974 film starring Gene Wilder, Young Frankenstein has been extensively reworked by Brooks and director and choreographer Susan Stroman since it premiered on Broadway a decade ago.

Brooks and Stroman have cut and added songs, and according to reports it is now much funnier. The staging has also been paired back to suit the modest size Garrick Theatre.

The cast also includes Dianne Pilkington (Wicked), Summer Strallen (Top Hat, The Sound of Music) and Patrick Clancy (The Producers, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat).
