An all-star West End cast has been announced for the concert performance of The Colour Purple.

Dreamgirls cast members Marisha Wallace and Tyrone Huntley will feature alongside Wendy Mae Brown (Ghost The Musical), Cavin Cornwall (Aladdin, Jesus Christ Superstar), Rachel John (The Bodyguard, Memphis), Hugh Maynard (Miss Saigon, The Lion King) and Seyi Omooba (Ragtime).

Based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and the award winning film starring Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey, The Color Purple tells the inspiring and unforgettable story of a woman who, through love, finds the strength to triumph over adversity and discover her unique voice in the world.

The concert performance is being staged to raised funds for The British Theatre Academy, a unique performing arts programme that has inspired and nurtured the talent of thousands of young performers over the past 30 years.

The concert will feature a chorus of over 40 current BTA participants.
British actress Cynthia Erivo won a Tony Award in 2016 for her performance as Celie in the Broadway production of The Colour Purple which also starred Jennifer Hudson and Danielle Brooks.

The Colour Purple will play a one night only concert version on Sunday 21 May at 6.00pm at London’s Cadogan Hall.
