Sienna Miller is to star in a new production of Tennessee Williams’ Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.
Considered a twentieth century masterpiece, Tennessee Williams’ searing drama is about one Southern family’s fight for survival.
Miller will play Maggie, the Southern wildcat married to Brick: a handsome, former all-American football player who is unable to satisfy his wife’s needs.
Miller was last on stage playing Sally Bowles in the Broadway run of Cabaret at Studio 54, her previous West End credits include Flare Path (Theatre Royal Haymarket) and As You Like It (Wyndham’s Theatre).
Jack O’Connell will play Brick. Some may remember him from the E4 teen series Skins where he played hard living James Cook alongside Dev Patel and Nicholas Hoult. More recently he starred in Angelina Jolie’s film Unbroken and co-starred alongside George Clooney and Julia Roberts in Money Monster.
His theatre credits include Nap at Sheffield Crucible Theatre, Scarborough for the Royal Court and The Spiderman, The Musicians and Just for NT Shell Connections.
Set on a steamy night in Mississippi. As the family gather at their cotton plantation to celebrate Big Daddy’s birthday, the various factions position themselves, waiting for Big Daddy to die. All the while Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage.
Benedict Andrews, who most recently directed Gillian Anderson in the Young Vic production of A Streetcar Named Desire will direct.
Cat on A Hot Tin Roof will run from 13 July 2017 until 7 October 2017 at the Apollo Theatre.
