Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neil star in the West End transfer of celebrated playwright A.R. Gurney’s enduring romance about first loves and second chances.

Following a critically-acclaimed Broadway run, and US tour, Gregory Mosher’s production transfers to the UK.


Love Letters is the story of Andrew Makepeace Ladd III (O’Neal) and Melissa Gardner (MacGraw), two young people from similar backgrounds who take very different paths in life.

Despite leading lives which should not intersect, they can’t let go of each other throughout their 50 year friendship, and marriages and families with other people.


Ali MacGraw is an Award winning American actress, model, author best known for films Goodbye, Columbus (1969), Love Story, The Getaway (1972), Convoy (1978) and the 1983 television miniseries The Winds of War. Her theatre credits include US productions of Festen and Love Letters.

Ryan O’Neal’scareer highlights include hit films Love Story (1970), What’s Up, Doc? (1972), Paper Moon (1973), Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon (1975), and A Bridge Too Far (1977).
