Damian Lewis stars in Edward Albee’s The Goat, Or Who is Sylvia?

The Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actor will play the central character Martin in Albee’s black comedy about a family in crisis.

Martin is at the pinnacle of life: he has a loving wife and son, a hugely successful career as an architect, and the commission of a lifetime, but when he embarks upon an improbable and impossible love affair from which there is no return, familial relationships begin to collapse.

Damian Lewis is an internationally acclaimed stage, TV and film actor best known for his screen roles in award winning dramas Homeland and Wolf Hall, and most recently Billions.

His other notable television roles include HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, The Forsyte Saga and Charlie Crews in Life.

Edward Albee’s late masterpiece The Goat, Or Who is Sylvia marks Lewis’s return to the stage following the widely acclaimed production of David Mamet’s American Buffalo alongside John Goodman and Tom Sturridge.

Prior to American Buffalo in 2015, Lewis starred as Alceste in Martin Crimp’s 2009 adaptation of The Misanthrope opposite Keira Knightley. Other theatre credits include Five Gold Rings (Almeida), Pillars of the Community (National) and numerous plays for the RSC.

In addition to his illustrious work on stage, Lewis has appeared on film in Julian Fellowes’ adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, The Sweeney, David Gordon Green’s Your Highness, and Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert opposite Nicole Kidman.

The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? will have a limited 12 week run from 24 March 2017 until 24 June 2017 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
