Further casting has been announced for King Lear at the Old Vic starring Glenda Jackson in the title role.

Celia Imrie will play Goneril alongside Morfydd Clark as Cordelia with William Chubb playing Albany.

Imrie’s theatre credits include Acorn Antiques: The Musical (West End) for which she won an Olivier Award, Plague Over England (West End), Noises Off, Hay Fever, Yerma and The School For Scandal (RSC).

Best known for her appearances with Victoria Wood including Dinner Ladies and playing various characters in Victoria Wood As Seen on TV, Imrie’s theatre credits include Acorn Antiques: The Musical (West End) for which she won an Olivier Award, Plague Over England (West End), Noises Off, Hay Fever, Yerma and The School For Scandal (RSC).

Imrie’s film work includes Nanny Mcphee, Calendar Girls, Bridget Jones Diary and Star Wars – The Phantom Menace

Clark has most recently been seen on stage at the Donmar in Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Other theatre credits include Romeo & Juliet (Crucible Theatre, Sheffield) and Violence & Son (Royal Court).

Previously announced casting includes Jane Horrocks (Regan), Rhys Ifans (Fool), Simon Manyonda (Edmond), Harry Melling (Edgar) and Gary Sefton (Oswald).

King Lear runs from 25 October until 3 December at the Old Vic Theatre.
