Frank Wildhorn’s Wonderland will receive its UK and European premiere when it opens at the Edinburgh Playhouse prior to a UK tour in early 2017.

Wonderland is a musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by multi-Grammy and Tony Award®-nominated Frank Wildhorn, writer of pop hits including Whitney Houston’s ‘Where Do Broken Hearts Go?’ and theatre classics including ‘This is the Moment’ from his internationally acclaimed show, Jekyll & Hyde.

Boasting a catchy pop score and a timely and touching story of love in all its forms, it’s an adventurous exploration of who we are, who we want to be and the power of everyday magic in our lives.

The multi Grammy, Tony and Drama Desk Award nominated production suffered a difficult birth,  premiering on 17 April 2011 and closing on 15 May 2011 after 30 previews and 33 performances at the Marquis Theatre.  Since then it has been fine tuned and gone on to  sell-out runs in Tampa, Texas and Tokyo.

The new production will be directed by Matilda director Lotte Wakeham with choreography by Lucie Pankhurst, design by up and coming designer Georgia Lowe and lighting by Nick Richings.

Wonderland runs from 20 January 2017 until 28 January 2017 at the Edinburgh Playhouse, prior to a UK tour with dates at Sunderland, Birmingham, Southend, Oxford, Grimsby, York, Bromley, Derry, Belfast, Woking, Blackpool, Southampton and Manchester.
