Maureen Lipman and Katie Brayben will lead the cast of Charlotte Keatley’s My Mother Said I Never Should at the St James Theatre.

They will be joined by Caroline Faber and Serena Manteghi in the production, which marks the play’s first London revival in more than 25 years.

Director Paul Robinson said Lipman would offer a “highly original take on the part of Doris”. Keatley added that, 25 years on, it was “still incredibly unusual to see women protagonists like these”.

Lipman was last on stage in the West End in Lindsay Posner’s production of Harvey opposite James Dreyfus and Brayben has only recently completed her Olivier award-winning run in Beautiful The Carole King Musical.

My Mother Said I Never Should runs from 13 April 2016 until 21 May 2016 at the St James Theatre.
