Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Olivier Awards, the 2016 ceremony will reach a global audience with the introduction of a special YouTube channel.

The YouTube channel will include live streaming of the performances from the public stage in Convent Garden with the complete ceremony available later in the evening to international audiences.

As in previous years, ITV will screen extensive highlights of the show on its main channel, with the complete ceremony available on demand on ITV Hub.

Official radio partner, Magic Radio will broadcast the Olivier Awards on their soon to be launched radio station Melow Magic. Additionally, in the weeks leading up to the ceremony there will be a specially commissioned series looking back at the last 40 years featuring the winning music and stars from the awards.

Voting for the Magic Radio Audience Award, the only Olivier Award voted entirely by the public, opens on 23 February 2016.

Society of London Theatre chief executive Julian Bird said: “As we celebrate their 40th anniversary, this year’s awards are set to be the biggest yet.” He added that the new YouTube channel would allow the ceremony to “reach audiences around the world, reflecting the premier status of London theatre.”

Nominations for the Olivier Awards will be announced on 29 February 2016 at Rosewood London, with the star-studded ceremony taking place on 3 April 2016 at the Royal Opera House.
