Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical CATS will extend its run at the London Palladium and Kerry Ellis is to replace Nicole Scherzinger as Grizabella.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival of his hit musical CATS has proved the cats whiskers all over again in the West End.
The resurrected show, which has played to packed houses and a record-breaking box-office at the London Palladium since December, is to extend its run until 25 April 2015.
Nicole Scherzinger, who was contracted to play Grizabella until 7 February 2015, will be replaced by Wicked alumni Kerry Ellis from 9 February 2015.
Over 100,000 additional tickets have gone on sale for the smash-hit show, which has seen Lloyd Webber reunite with his original creative team of director Trevor Nunn, choreographer Gillian Lynne and designer John Napier for the revival.
The show is based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, and is one of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history. Cats premiered at the New London Theatre in 1981, it played for 21 record-breaking years and almost 9,000 performances.
