The Broadway to London transfer of Motown the Musical may have been pushed back.

Motown The MusicalThe much-anticipated London production of Broadway hit musical Motown has been pushed back.

Originally rumoured to be opening in Spring 2015, the show is now scheduled to open at the Shaftesbury theatre in London’s West End in February 2016.

Finding the right London theatre seems to have been an issue for this production.

The Broadway production of the show at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre is finishing up on 18 January 2015.

Produced by Kevin McCollum, Doug Morris and Berry Gordy, Motown The Musical is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright and is the true story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and more.

The show boasts over 50 Motown hits including My Girl and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.
