Director Jamie Lloyd announces that he is no longer working on the musical version of Back to the Future.

Back to the FutureCreative differences have led director Jamie Lloyd (Richard III, The Commitments, Urinetown) to drop-out of director duties on the forthcoming movie-to-stage musical remake of Back to the Future.

Workshops are due to start any time now, but Jamie Lloyd has decided to withdraw amicably from the project over differences with original Back to the Future screenwriter Bob Gale.

Jamie Lloyd told Baz in the Daily Mail that he needed to “stand by my vision… or there’s not much point”.

It looks like the musical is now going to be pushed back until 2016. It is not clear whether Soutra Gilmour’s designs for the show will be used for the final production.
