Acclaimed British composer Julian Anderson and distinguished playwright Frank McGuinness collaborate on this compelling re-telling of Sophocles’ classic Theban tragedies.

Centred on the fate of Oedipus and his daughter Antigone, a swirling plot of murder and incest, political ambition, love and loyalty, hatred and revenge drive set the characters on a collision course to catastrophe.

De Nederlandse Opera Artistic Director Pierre Audi makes his anticipated ENO debut with this world premiere production, with music direction by Edward Gardner leading the ENO Chorus and Orchestra.

A superb cast includes Roland Wood as Oedipus, Susan Bickley as Jocasta, Julia Sporsén as Antigone and Peter Hoare as Creon.
