From Here to Eternity

In a release issued at CinemaCon 2014 – the annual gathering of cinema owners and operators – US company Fathom Events announced that it will partner with Omniverse Vision to film and broadcast the London production of the show in 2014. It is not clear whether it will also appear in UK cinemas.

Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president of Fathom Events, said in a statement that: “We are excited for the opportunity to work with Omniverse Vision to ensure this beautiful stage production is captured and shared with cinema audiences. This international collaboration is yet another milestone for Fathom in bringing the world’s finest unique cinema entertainment to local communities nationwide.”

The news of a Broadway production for the show came via a statement from Omniverse Vision CEO, Grant Calton, who said: “After four years of partnering with Fathom Events, it is hugely exciting to embark on our first co-production deal. After a highly successful six-month West End run, this will be a fantastic chance for Fathom audiences to see the UK production first, before it hits Broadway in 2015.”

Written by Tim Rice, Stuart Brayson and Bill Oakes, the London production has played for six months at the Shaftesbury Theatre but is in its final week, closing early on 29 March 2014.

The musical is slated to arrive on Broadway in 2015.

The producers of the London show are yet to comment directly on the news.
