Duchess Theatre, Catherine Street, London, WC2B 5LA
Kathleen Turner and Ian McDiarmid star in new play Bakersfield Mist by Stephen Sachs at the Duchess Theatre.
Polly Teale directs Hollywood legend Kathleen Turner in new play Bakersfield Mist at the Duchess Theatre, inspired by true events.
This new play is by award-winning American playwright and director Stephen Sachs, and tackles the question of what makes art and people truly authentic.
Kathleen Turner returns to the London stage following her acclaimed performance eight years ago in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She plays opposite Olivier and Tony award-winning actor Ian McDiarmid, directed by Evening Standard award-winner Polly Teale.
Maude (Kathleen Turner), a fifty-something unemployed bartender, has bought a painting for a few dollars from the charity shop. Despite almost trashing it, she’s now convinced that it is an original Jackson Pollock worth millions. But when world-class art expert Lionel Percy (Ian McDiarmid) flies over from New York to visit her in her trailer park in Bakersfield to authenticate the painting, he really has no idea what he is about to discover.
