It’s not often these days that you get to see the London Palladium used for anything other than big budget musicals.

But in its historic past the prestigious theatre has been a circus and hosted a multitude of variety shows. One of the Palladium’s former incarnations was as the National Skating Palace – featuring a skating rink with real ice.

And so it is fitting that The Nutcracker on Ice is currently playing at the London Palladium. Featuring international ice dancers The Imperial Ice Stars, the Palladium stage has been frozen for an epic production of Tchaikovsky’s much-loved The Nutcracker.

With lots of colourful sets, lavish costumes, acrobatics, magic and special effects, the production promises to be a pre-Christmas treat.

Plus Dancing on Ice stars Keith Chegwin and Olga Sharutenko join the cast.

Until 3 November.
