Jerry Herman’s Broadway musical Dear World finally gets a British premiere, at the Charing Cross Theatre until 30 March 2013.

Tony Award winning West End and Broadway star Betty Buckley plays Countess Aurelia in the musical, alongside Paul Nicholas as Sewerman. The show is directed and choreographed by Gillian Lynne (Cats, The Phantom of the Opera).

Dear World premiered on Broadway in 1969 starring Angela Lansbury, who won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.

Based on Jean Giraudoux’s play The Madwoman of Chaillot, Dear World is set in post-war Paris in 1945.
