MICHAEL BALL in Sweeney Todd
West End Theatre’s leading man Michael Ball returns home in an acclaimed new production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd.
Michael Ball continues to exceed all expectations of what Britain’s leading man of musical theatre should be about.
In what seems like an impossibly long and successful career he has moved from the hot young star of Les Mis and Aspects of Love, to comic master in shows like Hairspray, to his current manifestation as a mass murderer in Sweeney Todd.
Playing Todd at the Adelphi Theatre, in Jonathan Kent’s Chichester Theatre production of the show, Michael Ball has garnered some of the best reviews of his career so far and found a worthy match in his co-star, and fellow Olivier Awards host, Imelda Staunton.
Ball’s career highlights include playing Edna Turnblad in Hairspray, Hajj/The Poet in Kismet, Gilbert & Sullivan’s Patience, Count Fosco in The Woman in White, Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Passion, Aspects of Love, The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables.
Following his turn in Sweeney Todd, and his almost unrivalled power to guarantee a full-house, we expect a whole new chapter of work from Ball in the next few years.
